The number isn't the problem. The list is.

Company level: The request and opt-out target the organization and the lists it uses. Change your number and the opt-out still follows your case.
Client on whose behalf: When a meeting-booking agency calls for someone else, that client is noted too, so the opt-out lands where the decision is made.
Do-not-call registry: A do-not-call registry covers some calls, but not data that's already been resold. That's why the registry is combined with a direct request to the recipient.
Deviations: If someone calls after a registered opt-out, the time and sender are logged, and the case reopens with the documentation already on file.

Protection reduces the likelihood of unwanted calls and documents the ones that still come through. No one can promise the phone will never ring — but you won't be left to prove it alone.
